World Bank executive director at State House

July 2, 2009 ---- Dr. Toga Gayewa McIntosh, the executive director of the World
Bank, Africa Group 1 Constituency, paid a courtesy call on President James Michel
at State House this morning.
Also present at the meeting was Mr. Peter Larose, a Seychellois national, who is
the advisor to the Executive Director. Seychelles forms part of Africa Group 1.
Dr. McIntosh stated that the main purpose of his visit is to introduce himself and
to listen to any concern that Seychelles may have on any potential engagement with
the bank. By engaging with the Bank, he meant negotiating prospective loans, discussing
proposed projects and other related matters.
The executive director of the World Bank, Africa Group 1, said that in President Michel, he saw commitments. He stated that Seychelles is a middle income country and that President Michel is determined in taking the Seychelles to the next level.
Dr. McIntosh also praised Seychelles for its economic reforms that have been undertaken.
