Oman extends firm support to Seychelles’ economic reform

January 27, 2010 -- The new ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Seychelles, H.E. Sheikh Humad Ali Al Maani presented his credentials to President James Michel at State House yesterday morning.
During the meeting the Ambassador informed the President that the ruler of the Sultanate of Oman, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al Said had committed 500,000 USD to the Government of Seychelles for the support of the economic reform programme, launched by President Michel in November 2008.
President Michel thanked the Sultanate of Oman for the firm support it is giving Seychelles, and for responding to the appeal he launched to all friendly countries for assistance to support the economic reforms.
President Michel and Ambassador Humad Ali Al Maani also discussed the possibility of military cooperation in the fight against piracy, particularly in view of Oman’s extensive experience in controlling the Straight of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman.
The Ambassador invited President Michel to make an official visit to Oman in order to further strengthen the ties between the two countries. The President accepted the invitation.
H.E. Sheikh Human Al Al Maani is the 6th ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Seychelles, and is based in New Delhi, India. Seychelles and the Sultanate ofOman established diplomatic relations on 9th April 1983.
