Cabinet Decisions

Cabinet Business-Thursday, 29 March 2018

President Danny Faure chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet on Wednesday morning, 28th March, at which 16 legal and policy memoranda were considered.

Cabinet considered the draft Overseas Treatment Bill.  The aim of the new law is to bring transparency in the management of overseas treatment funded by Government.  Approval was given subject to certain amendments.

Cabinet was updated on the actions undertaken by the Corgat Estate Task Force based on the ten recommendations set out in order to improve the quality of life in the sub district.

Cabinet was presented with the findings of the Integrated  Biological and Behavioural Survey of Drug Users in Seychelles.

Cabinet was briefed on the activities of the Development Committee for fourth quarter of 2017 as well as the capital projects being implemented by the Ministries, Agencies and Departments.

Cabinet approved amendments to the Income and Non-monetary Benefits Tax for the progressive income tax to take effect as from 1st June 2018 in line with the President’s announcement in the State of the Nation Address.

Cabinet gave approval for the Fiscal report 2017 to be submitted to the National Assembly as per Section 32 of the Public Finance Management Act.Cabinet also gave approval for assessment and re-alignment of the roles of the Public Enterprise Monitoring Commission (PEMC) and the Societé D’Investissement Seychelloise (SSIL) in order to improve monitoring of state owned entities.

Cabinet endorsed the Strategic Plan of the Employment Department.  The main priorities of the plan are to improve school to work links; transition of workers from informal to formal employment; productivity and business growth.Cabinet also considered and approved a Scheme of Service for SPTC staff.

Cabinet was briefed on the coastal erosion on Remire island.

Cabinet took note of the activities of certain Departments and Agencies for fourth quarter of 2017.
