Denmark's New Ambassador

March 30, 2011 -- The new ambassador of Denmark to Seychelles is Mr. Geert Aagaard Andersen, who presented his credentials to President James Michel at State House yesterday.

The ambassador told the media after the ceremony that he was looking into the possibility of sharing his country's renewable energy experience with Seychelles, especially in solar and wind power.

He said Seychelles' economy is now strong and that more industrial activities will come as a result of this.

President Michel and Ambassador Andersen also discussed the scourge of piracy in the region.

"The effort made by the Seychelles government in fighting piracy is very much appreciated, not only in the region but worldwide," said the ambassador.

Mr. Andersen is based in Nairobi, Kenya. The Danish honorary consul in Seychelles is Mr. Basil Soundy.
