President Michel Deserves Outright Victory -- Mr Mancham

June 1 2011 -- Former President James Mancham has said that President James Michel deserved the outright victory he got in the last election after working hard in his previous term of office.

Mr Mancham was at State House yesterday for one hour of talks with Mr Michel.

The first President of Seychelles said Mr Michel met members of the population in all districts throughout his tenure and had dialogue with representatives of all people from all sectors.

Mr Mancham said it was a pity members of the opposition were not present at the announcement of the result to offer their congratulations.

He noted that the candidates attended religious service at St Paul's cathedral and prayed together for the election yet they rejected the result.

Mr Mancham added that the election was guided by rules that existed as provided for under the Constitution of the Third Republic, so nobody should reject the result which followed the set guidelines.  

He said Seychellois need to live in a friendly atmosphere to further elevate our blessed country while attracting investment from abroad.

He mentioned water supplies, debts, housing as some of the urgent areas that needing attention.
