Rally For Re-Elected President To Thank Supporters

June 7, 2011 -- The ruling Parti Lepep of President James Michel organized a rally at Freedom Square on 5th June to thank supporters for the May 19-21 election victory.

President Michel, was has been returned to power with 55.5% of the vote, thanked supporters for the confidence they have put in him, for staying true to the party's principles which have enabled them to remain the biggest political party in the country.

The  President, who received a rousing welcome from the large crowd present,  pointed out that he is a man of his words and would therefore remain true to his campaign pledges and deliver on all the promises outlined in his manifesto.    

Vice-President Faure told the crowd the minimum wage would be revised and increased next year, and that there would be better terms for the existing home improvement loans.

June 5 is Liberation Day in Seychelles, the date of the 1977 revolution which allowed for huge investments in the social sectors.
