First Ambassador for Georgia accredited to Seychelles

The first Ambassador for Georgia to Seychelles, Mr. Vakhtang Jaoshvili, presented his credentials to President James Michel at State House this morning.

After the accreditation ceremony Mr. Jaoshvili told the national media that his talks with the President centred on opportunities to further enhance cooperation, such as preparing a Double Taxation avoidance agreement and an air services agreement among others. He also added that both countries were looking to further develop their relations in the fields of investment, tourism, economy, education and culture.

“Georgia has an interest in Seychelles and vice versa. The fact that we are present in Africa means that we pay a lot of attention to having “win-win” relations with African states, and of course Seychelles has a special place in this,” said Ambassador Jaoshvili.

The Georgian ambassador singled out projects and cooperation in education and culture, adding that “we’re going in the right direction and people will realise the fruits of our cooperation soon”.

Also present during the meeting were the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jean-Paul Adam and the President's Diplomatic Adviser, Ambassador Callixte D'Offay.

Seychelles and Georgia, it is to be noted, established diplomatic relations in 2013.

Ambassador Mr. Vakhtang Jaoshvili is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
