President James Michel has sent messages of condolences to the Pillay family and the Morel family, following the deaths of their loved ones on Friday and Saturday.

Following the passing away of KD Pillay also known as Deenu, President Michel send a message to his son Dr Vinayagamurthy Pillay, expressing his deepest condolences.

“Deenu, as he was affectionately known, was a gentleman of great integrity. A highly respected entrepreneur, who contributed substantially to the development of the business community in Seychelles, Deenu was also a philanthropist who has touched and enriched many lives,” said the President in his letter.

The President said that Deenu would be mourned and remembered as a ‘compassionate, caring and generous man.’

In a letter to Innocente Morel, the mother of Erickson Jules, who was killed while performing his duty as a police officer, President Michel offered his deepest condolences to the Morel family.

“Erickson was a conscientious and proud member of the police Force who was devoted to his chosen profession and to public service. He had a promising career ahead of him, cut short by a horrific accident. We mourn with you and your loved ones Erickson’s tragic demise, “said President Michel in his letter.

Mr Michel added he personally shared their sorrow and that while that words alone would not appease the grief of the family, he wanted them to know that whole nation mourns with them.

“May the memories you hold of Erickson grant you solace and may they continue to inspire, your loved ones as well as Erickson’s colleagues.”
