Qatari Ambassador to Seychelles accredited

The Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Seychelles, Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Al-Abdulla presented his credentials to President James Michel at State House this morning.

The President and the Ambassador discussed several areas of cooperation such as sports partnerships, housing projects, tourism, investment and aviation in their meeting.

After the accreditation ceremony Ambassador Ibrahim Mohamed Al-Abdulla presented a written statement to national media concerning his talks with the President.

“Qatar and Seychelles relations are based on the strong bonds of friendship and over 30 years of long lasting cooperation….Qatar is happy with the determination of the Seychellois people and the Government in its past achievements and its future endeavors. Seychelles’ role in the maritime security in the region, the fight against piracy and championing the fight against climate change deserves strongly our respect and encouragement. It should not go unnoticed that Seychelles has experienced rapid and continuous economic growth. The discussion I have with the President is mainly based on existing cooperation and how to further develop them,” said the Ambassador in the statement.

Also present during the meeting were the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Transport, Joel Morgan and the President's Diplomatic Adviser, Ambassador Callixte D’Offay.

Ambassador Ibrahim Mohamed Al-Abdulla is based in Nairobi.

Seychelles and the State of Qatar established formal diplomatic relations on April 7th 1984 and Ambassador Al-Abdulla is the third Ambassador of the State of Qatar to be accredited to the Republic of Seychelles.
