President Faure calls for a more pragmatic Foreign Policy that connects to the reality of the lives of the People of Seychelles

President Danny Faure met with Seychelles Ambassadors during his first ambassador’s meeting held at State House this morning.

During the meeting the President outlined his vision for the conduct and execution of Seychelles Foreign Policy that is more focused and pragmatic in terms of impact and delivery which connects to the lives of the people of Seychelles.

“It is now time to focus on adopting a foreign policy the matches the current reality and lives of the people of Seychelles,” said President Faure.

He highlighted the necessity for a more systematic approach defining overall performance objectives and goals and targets to be achieved in sustaining the level of development and in finding solutions to the challenges and the vulnerabilities of the country.

Greater emphasis will be placed on the ambassadors working in closer cooperation with government ministries to implement more projects in numerous areas such health, community, capacity building, and sports among others.

The President recognized that Seychelles’ development efforts are situated within a fierce and competitive global context. He urged the ambassadors to be more creative and innovative in their bilateral and diplomatic engagements so as to create more opportunities for Seychelles at all levels.

President Faure’s vision was shared by the Ambassadors and they expressed their commitment and support towards the fulfilment of those goals amongst their jurisdictions.

Also present during the meeting were the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Transport Mr. Joel Morgan, the President’s Diplomatic Advisor Ambassador Callixte D’Offay, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Barry Faure and the Secretary of State for Cabinet Affairs, Mr. Mohammed Afif.
