President Faure Welcomes Gold Medallist Female Weightlifter Clementina Agricole

President Danny Faure received female weightlifter Ms Clementina Agricole and members of her family at State House this morning, to honour her success at the African Weightlifting Championship.

Ms Agricole recently claimed her first African Senior Weightlifting Championship title after winning three gold medals in the 63kg weight category in Mauritius last month.

President Faure congratulated Ms Agricole for her achievement and for keeping the Seychelles’ flag flying high. He urged her to stay focused on her upcoming training and to continue to be an ambassador and role model for other Seychellois youth.

The President also highlighted the special nature of Ms Agricole’s journey, where despite challenges to her health she continued to persevere and against all odds, upon her comeback is displaying excellent performance in her sport.

Speaking to the Press after the meeting, Ms Agricole thanked the President for the honour to receive her at State House and for the support.

Also present for the meeting was the Minister for Youth & Sports, Mrs Mitcy Larue, Chief Executive Officer of the National Sports Council, Ms Giovanna Rouseau, Ms Agricole’s mother, Mrs Rana Souyana, stepfather Mr Brian Souyana, Chairman Weightlifting, Mr Robert Rose, Weightlifting Coach, Mr William Dixie and Ms Agricole’s training partner and physical trainer Mr Zaher Hamdan.
