President Receives Report of Inquiry into Judge Karunakaran

President Danny Faure today met with the Chairman and Members of the Tribunal of Inquiry set up under Article 134 (2) of the Constitution, to inquire into the inability of Judge Durai Karunakaran to perform the functions of the office of Judge on the grounds of misbehaviour.

The Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Fredrick Egonda Ntende, submitted two copies of the Report of the Tribunal to the President.  The Tribunal will also present a copy of the Report to the Constitutional Appointments Authority.

The Tribunal was set up on 10th October 2016.  In addition to the Chairperson, who is a Former Chief Justice of Seychelles, the Tribual also included two serving judges of the Supreme Court: Judge Mohan Burhan and Judge Samia Govinden.
