President Faure rounds up series of district visits following tour of Beau Vallon and Bel Ombre districts

President Danny Faure visited the Beau Vallon and Bel Ombre districts this morning, marking the conclusion of his community outreach programme to all twenty six districts including those on Mahe, Praslin and La Digue. He has now seen firsthand the situation in all communities, and heard the suggestions and concerns of the people.

In the Beau Vallon district, the President visited a completed road project at Le Noile with the possibility to provide bus service for residents, Le Niole emergency homes, the Ex-Société du Logement due for re-development, the Nouvelle Vallee-Pascal Village road-by-pass from St Louis to Beau Vallon project, tourism and recreational facilities at lower Beau Vallon, the site for a proposed slipway project at Mare Anglaise, and location for proposed residential units at La Batie.

In the Bel Ombre district, the President visited residents living in overcrowded conditions, the newly built flats at Kashoggi Estate in need of more facilities such as common lighting and recreational areas, tourism establishments in the community, emergency homes, and the fishing port due for re-development.

Following the visit in both districts, the delegations met at the District Administration office for a meeting. President Faure thanked the district authorities and commended them for the good working relations he witnessed during his tour. Given that both Beau Vallon and Bel Ombre are districts where tourism activities are high, the President stressed on the importance of the involvement and consultation by district authorities and partnering agencies. The President also raised the importance of improving communication between all partner agencies and members of the community to reduce delays and enhance efficiency.

Nichola Prea, Principal Secretary for Infrastructure, Mr Yves Choppy, Principal Secretary for Tourism, Ms Anne Lafortune, Principal Secretary for Local Government, Mrs Celine Vidot, Principal Secretary for Public Affairs, Mrs Doreen Arnephy, Principal Secretary for Social Affairs, Mrs Linda William-Melanie, Principal Secretary for Family Affairs, Mrs Marie-Josee Bonne, CEO of Seychelles Land Transport Agency, Mr Parinda Herath, Deputy CEO SPTC, Mr Maxwell Julie, Public Health Commissioner, Dr Jude Gédéon, NDEA Officials, other representatives of services and agencies, and District Administrators for Beau Vallon and Grand Anse
