President Danny Faure shares Seychelles experience with His Royal Highness, Prince of Wales and his Serene Highness, Prince Albert of Monaco

President Danny Faure was invited to address a high-level side-event organised by The Prince of Wales's International Sustainability Unit (ISU) and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation today, on the margins of the “Our Oceans Conference” in Malta.

President Faure explained how “in 2015, we realized that as small islands, but perhaps more importantly as Large Ocean Nations we shared many features and faced common challenges with other nations that a sustainable blue economy is critical for the future health of the ocean”.  President Faure took the opportunity to thank HRH Prince of Wales “for his leadership on development issues, in particular on the concerns of Small Island Developing States, and his support for the development of the “Blue Bonds”- the first in the world.”

He also acknowledged the work of His Serene Highness Prince Albert of Monaco and welcomed the scientific research expedition by Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation in the Indian Ocean and in particular to the Port of Victoria in 2019.

The one and half hour side event, invited world leaders to reflect on frameworks for sustainable blue economies that must ensure the health of the oceans. This event was followed by a second high-level event hosted also by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the Prince of Wales's International Sustainability Unit (ISU) on “The Urgent Action to Save the Worlds Coral Reefs” which concluded with the signing of the “Coral Reefs Live” declaration by Minister Pamela Charlette added her signature to this declaration with 12 other counties in the presence His Royal Highness, Prince of Wales and His Serene Highness, Prince Albert of Monaco.
