New UNDP Resident Coordinator and Resident Representative for Mauritius and Seychelles Accredited

The New UNDP Resident Coordinator and Resident Representative for both Mauritius and Seychelles, Ms Christine Umutoni, presented her credentials to President Danny Faure at State House this morning. 

The President welcomed Ms Umutoni to Seychelles and congratulated her on her new appointment, whilst also expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of Seychelles to the UNDP for the longstanding partnership which has over the years contributed to some of Seychelles’ successes and achievements.

“I would like to express my gratitude for all the support that the UNDP teams in Seychelles and Mauritius continue to give to Seychelles, and I am looking forward to more such collaborations under your leadership,” said President Faure 

Highlights of discussion between the President and Ms Umutoni included enlisting UNDP’s support in addressing key priority areas for Seychelles such as collaboration in statistical data and research in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as working in close partnership for the eradication of poverty to devise new strategies alongside efforts of the newly created Agency for Poverty Alleviation here in Seychelles.

Speaking to the Press after her accreditation, Ms Umutoni commended the fruitful relations that exist between Seychelles and UNDP and expressed eagerness to further collaborate with the country in the various areas highlighted during the discussion with President Faure. 

Also present for the accreditation ceremony at State House was the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Barry Faure, and Mr Roland Alcindor from the UNDP Coordination Office in Seychelles.
