President Faure Hosts reception in Honour of Vice-President of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba

The President of the Republic, Mr Danny Faure hosted a reception at State House yesterday evening, in honour of Her Excellency Vice-President of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, Ms Mercedes López Acea currently on a two day official visit in Seychelles.
Addressing the guests at the reception, President Faure highlighted the shared ambitions and common aspirations of the two nations which has flourished into 40 years of strong friendship, successful collaboration, and renewed commitment as solid bilateral partners.
“Seychelles and Cuba share common values. A commitment to people-centred development, where the prosperity of all our citizens form the heart of our decisions. A sense of patriotism. A passion for our children, a commitment to their education and well-being.” said President Faure.
The President also expressed gratitude to the Government of Cuba for its continued support and to all the Cuban Nationals and collaborators in Seychelles, who have made and continue to make vital contributions to society, in areas such as health, agriculture, and sports.
On her part Vice- President Acea expressed her appreciation for how successful her official visit has progressed so far, with fruitful deliberations and discussions of which upon her return will ensure decisions are actioned through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cuba.
Present at State House for the reception was Her Excellency Vice-President of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, Ms Mercedes López Acea, Vice-President, Mr Vincent Meriton, Designated Minister, Mrs Macsuzy Mondon, the Leader of the Opposition, Honourable Wavel Ramkalawan, the Leader of Government Business in the National Assembly, Honourable Charles Decomarmond, Ministers, Members of the Cuban Delegation, Members of the Cuban community and professionals in Seychelles and other distinguished guests.
