New Ambassador for Kingdom of Thailand Accredited

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, H.E. Chedikiat Attharkor, presented his credentials to President Danny Faure during an accreditation ceremony at State House this morning.

President Faure congratulated Ambassador Attharkor on his accreditation and wished him success in his new role enhancing the already strong bilateral relations between Seychelles and Thailand during his tenure as Ambassador to Seychelles. The talks between the President and Ambassador Attharkor centred on opportunities to further enhance cooperation in areas such as investment and trade, such as the continuous investment of Thai Investors in the tuna processing industry, improving the local business environment, and opportunities to enhance job creation.

Both countries are also looking to further develop their relations in the fields of economy, education, and training, including capacity building in areas such as National Bio-Security Surveillance and tourism. President Faure and Ambassador Attharkor also discussed agreements to promote the ease of travel between the two countries, such as the exemption of Visas for Diplomatic and Official Passport Holders from Seychelles.

Also present for the accreditation ceremony was the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Barry Faure, the Honorary Consul of Thailand in Seychelles, Mr Joseph Chung Faye, and officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Seychelles and Thailand established diplomatic relations on 19 July 1988.
