President Faure pay homage to the late Constable Bérard Jeannie

President Danny Faure formally received family members of the late Bérard Jeannie, a young Police Officer who lost his life in the line of duty on 5th June 1977.

Through discussions with the Jeannie family over the past 10 months, President Faure decided together with the family members begin a new chapter and formally pay homage to the late Bérard Jeannie after 41 years of grieving for the loss.

During a statement delivered during the meeting, the President formally sought the pardon of the brothers and sister of the late Bérard Jeannie for the way your brother lost his life.

Constable Bérard Jeannie was 26 years of age when he passed and was describe by his brother, Mr Rock Jeannie as a very respectful and hardworking man whom at the time had been encouraged by their grandmother to join the police force.

During the meeting on behalf of the Jeannie Family, one of Mr Jeannie’s sisters, Maria Jeannie thanked President Faure for accepting to engage into dialogue with their family and for committing to putting an end to more suffering after more than 40 years of the tragic passing of their brother.
