President Faure to attend 2018 G7 Summit

The President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr Danny Faure, will be attending the 2018 G7 Summit hosted by Canada in Charlevoix, Québec, on 8-9 June 2018. He is attending the Summit at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Canada, Mr Justin Trudeau.

The Group of Seven (G7) is an informal grouping of seven of the world’s leading economies consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, that meet annually to discuss global issues. The Secretary General of the United Nations, the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission, and Heads of the World Bank Group, IMF, and OECD will also be present.

As host, Prime Minister Trudeau has invited select Leaders, including President Faure, to an outreach session part of the Summit, where the theme of Oceans will be discussed. President Faure will be making an intervention at this session on the theme of Sustainable Oceans and Fisheries, and Seychelles’ new innovative and strategies to protect and manage vulnerable areas of oceans and resources.

President Faure will leave the country on 6 June 2018. He will be back in office on 12 June 2018.
