Seychelles President Danny Faure receives warm reception in New Delhi

New Delhi, India, 25th June 2018: The President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr. Danny Faure, was accorded a 21 gun salute and inspected the Guard of Honour at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, the presidential palace in New Delhi, as part of his State Visit to India.

President Faure was welcomed warmly by the Indian President, His Excellency Mr Ram Nath Kovind, the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, and several other high officials of India.

"I am in a great country. The relationship between India and Seychelles is excellent. My presence here is to take this relationship to newer heights," President Faure told the Indian media following the ceremony.

The ceremonial reception was also attended by the Minister for Fisheries and Agriculture, Mr. Charles Bastienne, Minister for Habitat, Infrastructure and Land Transport, Mrs Pamela Charlette, Secretary of State Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Barry Faure, Secretary of State Presidential Affairs, Mrs Aude Labaleine, Secretary of State Poverty Alleviation, Ambassador Dick Esparon, Secretary of State, Mr Patrick Payet, Chief Presidential Protocol Affairs, Mrs Jacqueline Moustache Belle, Clerk of the National Assembly, Mrs Jutta Alexis, High Commissioner to the Republic of India, Ambassador Philippe Le Gall, Senior Presidential Attaché, Ms Ginny Elizabeth, Chairman Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Oliver Bastienne and Chairman Citizens Engagements Platforms of Seychelles, Mr Jude Fred, as well as several distinguished members of the Seychelles business community; Mr. Ramakrishnan Pillay, Mr. Narasimhan Ramani, Mr Ravji Premji Raghwani, Mr Keshra Vishram Bhudia and Mr Abdul Gafoor Yakub

Following the ceremonial reception, President Faure proceeded to the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi, where the President laid a wreath in memory of the great leader.
