His Worship Brassel Adeline sworn-in as Master of the Supreme Court

His Worship Brassel John Adeline was sworn-in as Master of the Supreme Court this morning, in the presence of President Danny Faure during a swearing-in Ceremony held at State House.

The President appointed His Worship Brassel Adeline following recommendations made by the Constitutional Appointments Authority as provided for in Article 127 of the Constitution of the Republic of Seychelles.

During the ceremony, His Worship took two oaths; the Oath of Allegiance to the Constitution and the Judicial Oath.

Mr Brassel Adeline has a Bachelor of Law with Honours from the East London University of Mauritius and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Northumbria, England. Mr Adeline started his career at the Ministry of Education as a Secondary School Teacher in 1982 and was later transferred to the Ministry of Employment as a Senior Employment Assistant. He then worked at the Ministry of Land Use and Housing as Director for a period of time and he was later appointed as Secretary to the Family Tribunal in the Ministry of Social Affairs; a post he held for nine years.

In 2007, Mr Adeline was appointed as Deputy Registrar General and as a Chairperson of the Family Tribunal two years later. He was appointed a Magistrate of the Judiciary Department in October 2009. Mr. Adeline was a Senior Magistrate in the Judiciary Department and Chairperson of the Employment Tribunal prior to his appointment as Master of the Supreme Court today.

Also present for the swearing-in ceremony was the Speaker of the National Assembly, Honourable Nicholas Prea, the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Francis MacGregor, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Mathilda Twomey, Leader of Government Business in the National Assembly, Honourable Charles Decommarmond, Members of the Constitutional Appointments Authority, relatives of His Worship Brassel Adeline and other distinguished guests.
