Appointment of New Electoral Commission

State House has announced that the President of the Republic has today appointed the Chairperson and Members of the new Electoral Commission, following the recommendations made to the President by the Constitutional Appointments Authority.

The Electoral Commission comprises the Chairperson and six other Members who are appointed for a seven-year term, as provided for by Article 115 of the Constitution.

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission will be Mrs Luciana Lagrenade, who has already been serving as a Member of the Commission since July 2017.

The other Members of the Electoral Commission will be Ms Jenny Adrienne, Mr Patrick Joseph Hoareau, Mr Henry Bastienne, Ms Wendy Didon, Mr Norlis Rose-Hoareau and Ms Veronique Bonnelame; Ms Bonnelame has been serving as a Member of the Commission since July 2017.

President Faure has also thanked the outgoing Members of the Electoral Commission for their devoted service to the Republic.  The outgoing Members are Mr Bernard Elizabeth, Mr Gerard Lafortune, Ms Marie-Therese Purvis, and Mr Beatty Hoareau.  Their seven-year term expired yesterday, 27th July 2018.
