The third High Commissioner of New Zealand Accredited

The third High Commissioner of New Zealand to Seychelles, H.E. Mr. Mark Ramsden presented his credentials to the President of the Republic, Mr Danny Faure at State House this morning.

The President congratulated and wished the High Commissioner every success during his new tenure. He noted how the Government of Seychelles greatly values all the support and assistance received from the government of New Zealand in various fields and expressed his fervent hope that during High Commissioner Ramsden’s tenure, the bonds of friendship and cooperation will be further enhanced.

President Faure noted New Zealand’s cooperation in the field of education, an area which many Seychellois students have benefitted from.

Their discussion centred on areas of mutual interest and cooperation, especially on the international arena, namely as members of the Commonwealth, Climate Change, Small Island Developing States as well the Blue Economy.

Following the accreditation ceremony High Commissioner Ramsden told the national media that the two countries can further develop their relations through the Commonwealth in two key areas that this organisation is engaged in namely the Blue Economy and the development of close economic relations.

High Commissioner Ramsden concluded: “New Zealand is very positive about this and we share a lot system, institution and we share a lot of values,”.

High Commissioner Mark Ramsden is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Also present at the accreditation ceremony were the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Barry Faure, Chief of Protocol and Presidential Affairs, Mrs Jaqueline Moustache-Belle and Director General for International Relations, Mrs Lindy Ernesta.
