The President chairs post-mortem meeting on warehouse fire at SPTC Depot

President Danny Faure chaired a post-mortem meeting following the fire which occurred at the SPTC Depot, Latanier Road, sixteen days ago.

Present for the meeting was the Designated Minister Macsuzy Mondon; the Commissioner of Police, Mr Kishnan Labonté; the Deputy Commissioners Mr Romano Songore, and Mr Ted Barbé; Special Advisor to the Police, Ms Sheryl Vengadasamy; the Principal Secretary of Finance, Mr Damien Thesée; officers from the Disaster and Risk Management Department; Fire and Rescue Services Agency; Health Care Agency; Airport Fire Services and SEYPEC.

During the meeting, the members present shared with the President the actions of their respective departments and agencies during the incident of the fire. They also reported on assessments undertaken after the fire, weaknesses identified in the procedures with a view to improve coordination in the event of a repeat of such incident in the capital of Victoria in the future.

Following the discussions, it was decided that a comprehensive report will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers by mid-September in which concrete findings, priorities and recommendations for actions will be presented for implementation.
