Cabinet Business - Wednesday 12th September 2018

President Danny Faure chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet on Wednesday morning, 12th September, at which a number of legal and policy memoranda were considered.

Cabinet approved the Third Outer Islands Development Plan for the period 2018 to 2023.  The plan sets the strategies for the development of fourteen islands.

Cabinet reviewed the status of its budgetary programme for the 2018, including recurrent expenditure and capital projects.

Cabinet approved proposal for the setting up of a Student Loan Scheme that will further open access to tertiary education and training.

Cabinet endorsed recommendation to make Assomption Island a clearance port for all visiting vessels intending on cruising the outer islands.

Cabinet also approved for exemption of stamp duty on the transfer of immovable property in a divorce case or by a parent to a child.

Cabinet endorsed proposal for Seychelles to sign Annex VI of the MARPOL Convention for the prevention of Air Pollution from Ships.

Cabinet approved for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Government and the Seychelles Hospitality and Tourism Association in order to promote career opportunities in the tourism sector.

Cabinet also approved for the Seychelles National Botanical Gardens Foundation and Botanischer Garden Rombergpark based in Germany to sign a Memorandum of Understanding.  The aim of the Memorandum is to explore exchanges and cooperation in relevant fields to the two organisations.
