President Faure Receives Report of the Tribunal of Inquiry Into Allegations of Misbehaviour Against The Chief Justice

President Danny Faure was today presented with the Final Report of the Tribunal of Inquiry established on 16th April 2018 by the Seychelles Constitutional Appointments Authority (CAA) under Article 134 (2) of the Constitution of the Republic, to determine whether or not Chief Justice Dr Mathilda Twomey ought to be removed from office for misbehaviour.

The Report was presented to President Faure by Mrs Merline Volcère in her capacity as Secretary to the Tribunal.

The Report concludes that the evidence presented to the Tribunal did not disclose any misconduct on the part of the Chief Justice, and recommends that the President take no action to remove the Chief Justice from office.

The President has considered the recommendation of the Report, and accepts it.

The Report will be published on the State House Web site.
