Exhibition Opening marks Two Years in Office for President Faure

In commemoration of two years since President Danny Faure was sworn into office, an exhibition entitled “Gifts of State” was officially opened this morning at the Mayor’s Office in Victoria.

The exhibition features official gifts President Faure has received over the last twelve months of his Presidency, that he has accepted on behalf of the people of Seychelles. The gifts are from other Heads of State, Ambassadors or dignitaries, local and international organisations, and also from individuals.

In his opening address before officially declaring the exhibition open, the Secretary of State for Cabinet Affairs, Mr Mohammed Afif, said “this exhibition symbolises transparency, one of the hallmarks anchoring every aspect of President Faure’s leadership: transparency, accountability and good governance”.

“President Faure advocates a style of government where every official action is based on principles enshrined in a policy framework that is not just known to all citizens, but which they have also had an opportunity to express their views about,” he added.

Mr Afif went on to retrace some of the prominent achievements and decisions effected since October 2016, where transparency and good communications have been the key trademarks.

The gifts received during the President's first year in office will be placed in a designated area of the National Museum for a period of six months, where the public as well as tourists will be able to view the items.

The official opening ceremony was held in the presence of President Danny Faure, Designated Minister Mrs Macsuzy Mondon, the Cabinet of Ministers, Chief of Defence Forces Brigadier Leopold Payet, Commissioner of Police Mr Kishnan Labonte, the Attorney General Mr Frank Ally and other distinguished guests.

The “Gifts of State” Exhibition will remain open for public viewing until 16 November 2018 at the Mayor’s Office from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.
