Appointment of CEO (National Council for the Elderly)

President Danny Faure has announced the appointment of Mrs Lise Marie-France Pereira as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Council for the Elderly (NCE).  This follows the recommendations made to the President by the Board of the NCE, in accordance with Section 9 of the National Council for the Elderly Act 2018.

Mrs Pereira, a Seychelloise, started her career as a Registered Nurse, and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Health Science, as well as a Master's Degree in Community Health.  She has over 27 years' experience in the management and assessment of institutions of care for the elderly.

Mrs Pereira will be taking up her post as CEO (NCE) from 1st December 2018.

The principal functions of the National Council for the Elderly are to

  • advise the Government on all matters concerning the elderly;
  • to develop standards of care, with a view to professionalise and maintain a high standard of care and service to the elderly;
  • to monitor, evaluate and regulate domiciliary care being provided; and
  • to register persons wishing to be employed to work as domiciliary care workers.
