President Faure meets Miss Deaf Africa 2017

President Faure met Miss Deaf Africa 2017, Ms Nasjtassia Khoner from Namibia, at State House today. Ms Khoner is in Seychelles as the guest of honour to crown the Miss Deaf Africa 2018.

Seychelles will host the seventh Miss Deaf Africa and first Miss Deaf Indian Ocean beauty pageant 2018 this Saturday, 24 November 2018.The event is being organised by the Association of People with Hearing Impairment (APHI).

President Faure welcomed Ms Khoner to Seychelles and expressed his happiness that such an event is taking place in Seychelles. The President said that he hoped that the pageant would be a success and that APHI continues to inspire others with disabilities to participate in such events. He noted that the government is working closely with APHI and that it will continue to support the Association’s work.

During the meeting, Ms Khoner shared with the President issues related to the deaf community in Namibia and Seychelles. She commended the government of Seychelles for their strong support of APHI and its activities.

Also present at the meeting was the Chief Executive Officer for the Association of People with Hearing Impairment, Mrs Anita Gardner, Committee member, Mr Philippe Calle, and Deaf interpreter, Ms Shana David.
