First Romanian Ambassador to Seychelles Accredited

The Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Seychelles, HE. Mr Marius Boranescu, presented his credentials to the President of the Republic, Mr Danny Faure, at State House today.

President Faure congratulated Ambassador Boranescu on his appointment and said that he is confident that this accreditation will give new impetus to further strengthen the bilateral partnership between Seychelles and Romania, and elevate the cooperation to new heights.

During their meeting, the Head of State and Ambassador Boranescu discussed different potential areas of cooperation that could be of mutual benefit to the two countries, and ways forward in developing these areas further.

They also shared views on their cooperation in the international arena in relation to peace and security, democracy, and the European Union among others.

The Republic of Seychelles and Romania established diplomatic relations on 30th July 1976.  Ambassador Boranescu will be based in Pretoria, South Africa.

Also present at the accreditation ceremony was the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and The Blue Economy Ambassador, Barry Faure, and First Secretary in the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ms Patsy Moustache.
