President Faure meets members of the Air Seychelles Board

As part of his series of meetings to improve dialogue with key organisations, President Danny Faure received members of the Air Seychelles Board at State House this morning.

President Faure welcomed the Board members to State House and urged them to take advantage of this meeting as a platform to collectively discuss, share updates and engage in open dialogue.

The President commended the Board members, Management and Staff of Air Seychelles for the hard work they continue to do despite the challenges. He stressed on the importance of staying focused on their core mandate and reaffirmed the government’s support to ensure the long term sustainable operation of the local airline.

During the meeting, the Chairperson of the Board, Mr Jean Weeling, provided the President with a contextual overview of the current status of the company, retraced its evolution, whilst also highlighting key efforts to transform the airline into a solid and profitable operation through the implementation of their five year strategic plan.

Discussions were also centred on progress made so far, operational and financial risks, expansion of the Airline’s regional strategy, and external factors affecting operation such as fuel price and the competitiveness of the aviation industry. The ways in which the government could further support Air Seychelles were also discussed.

Present at the meeting in addition to the Chairperson and Board of Directors, was the Minister for Finance, Trade, Investment and Economic Planning, Mr Maurice Loustau-Lalanne.
