Accreditation of new High Commissioner of India

The new High Commissioner of India to Seychelles, His Excellency General Dalbir Singh Suhag (Retd), presented his credentials to President Danny Faure at State House yesterday.

The President congratulated High Commissioner Suhag on his appointment and described it as a testimony to the longstanding special relationship shared between Seychelles and India, one based on historical and cultural ties, mutual trust, and shared aspirations.

High Commissioner Suhag conveyed the best wishes of the people of India with him, and committed to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries during his tenure.

The President and the High Commissioner discussed existing cooperation in areas such as health, education, defence, energy, and housing. They also discussed updates on national priority development projects such as the Government House, Attorney General’s Office and new Police Headquarters, and an international convention centre.

Speaking to the press after the meeting, High Commissioner Suhag said he is committed to “work towards the development of the people of Seychelles, and deepen the strong bond of friendship that exists between the two countries”.

Also present for the accreditation this morning was the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and the Blue Economy, Ambassador Barry Faure, and other officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs.
