Farewell visit by EU Ambassador

The outgoing European Union Ambassador to Seychelles, Mrs Marjaana Sall, paid a farewell call on President Faure yesterday morning, following the end of her four-year tenure.

President Faure thanked her for her hard work in strengthening the partnership between Seychelles and the European Union, and in particular, for her focus on delivering high-impact community-based projects.

On her part, Ambassador Sall described the partnership between Seychelles and the EU as solid and strong, and one based on shared values. She mentioned some highlights including the EU political dialogues with non-resident EU Ambassadors, and the Fisheries Partnership Agreement which makes Seychelles the top exporter of fish to the European market.

The President and Ambassador Sall discussed the direction of future cooperation between Seychelles and the EU, given the expiration of the current African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries-EU Partnership Agreement next year. They agreed that it would be a relationship built on sustainability, connectivity, and the UN 2030 Agenda, with win-win solutions that positively impact people in both Seychelles and the EU.

Also present for the farewell visit this morning was the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and the Blue Economy, Ambassador Barry Faure, and other officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs.
