President Faure meets with all Head Teachers from State Schools

President Danny Faure chaired a meeting with all head teachers from all state primary and secondary schools yesterday afternoon at National House.

The meeting was a follow-up to a meeting held by the President in June this year, designed to provide all head teachers with an update on measures implemented based on their suggestions at the last meeting. The President also had the opportunity to provide updates on the upcoming plans to provide schools with full autonomy. Decentralisation will empower head teachers to make decisions for the betterment of their respective schools and communities.

During the meeting, the head teachers present raised their concerns and roadblocks being encountered, and discussed possible solutions to improve the running of their schools and the education system as a whole. Other topics addressed included salary and renumeration, recruitment, and greater collaboration between stakeholders in education, including private sector. The meeting encouraged greater sharing of ideas and empowering discussions on overcoming challenges.

President Faure thanked the head teachers and the staff in all schools for their continuous hard work. He reminded them of their invaluable contribution to Seychelles in moulding young minds. He also reiterated his full support to all teachers, staff and the Ministry of Education in the challenging but critical task ahead.

On her part, the Minister of Education and Human Resources Development, Mrs Jeanne Simeon, thanked President Faure for making the time to meet with the head teachers and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment towards the advancement of education in Seychelles.
