Accreditation of the new Ambassador of the Republic of Philippines

The new Ambassador for the Republic of Philippines to Seychelles, His Excellency Ambassador Alex Chua, presented his credentials to President Danny Faure at State House this morning.

President Faure welcomed Ambassador Chua and his delegation to Seychelles, and congratulated him on his accreditation. “Our countries may be geographically far apart, but are close in terms of the commitment we share to democracy, social justice and people-centred development. It is a pleasure to meet with you and renew Seychelles’ commitment to consolidating collaboration between our two countries,” said the President.

Areas of cooperation discussed include a new Air Services Agreement designed to boost people-to-people exchanges, and formalising the recruitment of Filipino professionals in areas such as tourism, education, and healthcare.

Ambassador Chua pledged his full commitment to strengthening existing relations with Seychelles, and developing new areas of cooperation, particularly with regards to Seychelles’ innovative Blue Economy strategy.

Also present for the accreditation ceremony was the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Barry Faure, Principal Secretary at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ms Marina Confait, and Second Secretary, Ms Patsy Moustace.
