Cabinet Business - Wednesday 04th September 2019

Vice President Vincent Meriton chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet on Wednesday 4th September, at which a number of policy memoranda were considered.

Cabinet approved the elements and features that will characterise the Seychelles e-passport booklet.  These features include the languages to be used in the passports, the number of pages, the security features and the design. Cabinet was also apprised of the time line for the development of the passport to be ready for use by end of 2020.

Cabinet endorsed the proposal for NIHSS to offer nursing and social work training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in partnership with the Chamberlain University.

Cabinet was briefed on the actions undertaken to date in preparation for the second round of negotiations with the European Union on the Fisheries Agreement and its implementing protocol.  The Fisheries Department is meeting with relevant stakeholders in order to collect information about issues of concern to them that should be taken up during the negotiation.
