President visits various institutions on Praslin

President Danny Faure visited various government institutions and agencies on Praslin yesterday morning. The tour focused on institutions located in Grand Anse, at the Pension Fund Building and District Administration office. 

The President’s tour began at the Employment Office where the Director for Labour Relations, Mrs Vicky Aglae, welcomed him. The team briefed the President on the implementation of various employment programmes and schemes such as the Unemployment Relief Scheme (URS), Skills Development and their general operations servicing both Praslin and La Digue. 

The President thanked them for their service and urged them to continue working closely with partners, whilst cultivating strong work ethics and mentoring young people entering the world of work. 

From the Employment Office, President Faure visited the Praslin Fair Trading Commission (FTC) office also offering services to both Praslin and La Digue, where staff could share aspects of their daily duties as well highlight some of the minor challenges. 

President Faure also paid a surprise visit to the Civil Status office, currently in a temporary location while their new offices on the ground floor are undergoing refurbishment. The team briefed the President on current services on offer and plans to introduce new services for Praslin and La Digue that are currently only available on Mahe. 

Leaving the Civil Status office, the President dropped by the Enterprise Seychelles Agency (ESA) where he was welcomed by the ESA Business Development Officer, Ms Micheline Joubert. She briefed the President on daily operations, status of implementation of entrepreneurship schemes available as well main constraints being encountered by Praslin enterpreneurs. 

As part of his tour, the President also visited the Ministry of Habitat, Infrastructure and Land Transport (MHILT) office. He was welcomed on arrival by the Director, Mr Ron Esther, and met the team based on Praslin. 

The President congratulated them for the work they are doing amidst the pressure and demanding nature of their tasks at hand. He urged them to stay focused and continue to serve the people to the best of their abilities. The staff thanked him for making the time to visit them and sought his support in the area of professional development. 

Leaving MHILT, the President dropped in at the Land Waste Management Agency (LWMA) where they shared their views and constraints on their workplace. The Praslin LWMA staff also had the opportunity to propose ways to further improve working conditions and services they offer.  

Aside from his planned visits during his tour, the President also took the time to meet and interact with staff from other offices also located at the Pension Fund building such as Pension Fund, H Savy Insurance, Seychelles Revenue Commission, and Development Bank of Seychelles (DBS).  

The series of visits yesterday concluded with a visit to the Agency for Social Protection (ASP) based at the Grand Anse District Administration office. The President was briefed on the assistance provided by ASP to Praslin and La Digue. 

Whilst on La Digue and Praslin, the President also made the time to meet with members of the public who had written to him requesting appointments.
