Le Domaine Housing Estate officially opened

The President of the Republic, Mr Danny Faure, officially opened the Le Domaine Housing Estate at Au Cap yesterday afternoon. The President was accompanied by the Minister for Family Affairs, Mrs Mitcy Larue, and unveiled the plaque to officially declare the estate open.

Le Domaine Housing Estate is another project which forms part of the 24 projects in 24 districts. The 24 units at Le Domaine Housing Estate consist of 8 two bedroom units and 16 three-bedroom units. Construction work by Sai-Fu Enterprise for the Housing Estate started in January 2018 and following a work duration of 2 years, the total cost amounts to 19.2 million rupees.

Residents who received the keys to their new homes through this allocation of 24 units at Au Cap are priority applicants selected by the Housing Points system.

Addressing the guests present at the ceremony, the Minister for Family Affairs, Mrs Mitcy Larue, highlighted the government’s continued commitment to ensure that every family’s vision to have a home becomes a reality. She urged those that need a house to come forward and make their application, pay their contribution every month and stay committed to the process.

To note, for 2019 the Ministry of Habitat, Infrastructure and Land Transport (MHILT) has assisted 302 families under the programme for Social Housing Assistance. Minister Larue described this as remarkable and said that the government is targeting to deliver more than 100 houses next year in various districts.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister for Finance, Trade and Economic Planning, Mr Maurice Loustau-Lalanne, Minister for Employment, Immigration and Civil Status, Mrs Myriam Telemaque, Member of National Assembly for Au Cap, Hon Stephen Pillay, Au Cap District Administrator, Mrs Fatima Marie, staff from the Ministry of Habitat, Infrastructure and Land Transport, and other distinguished guests.
