New Spanish Ambassador to Seychelles accredited

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the Republic Seychelles, H.E Mr. Borja  Montensino,presented his credentials to President James Michel at State House this morning.

The President and the Ambassador discussed how Seychelles and Spain can consolidate their already dynamic cooperation and expressed their aspiration to see further partnerships  in the fields of fisheries, renewable energy, Blue Economy, and tourism.

President Michel thanked Spain for its good will and assistance over the years in the fight against piracy,  in the EUNAVFOR's Operation Atalanta.

After the accreditation ceremony, Ambassador Montensino told the national media that one of his priorities during his mandate, is to promote the Spanish language and culture.

"The Spanish, Seychelles relations are full of energy, the have been long standing presence to the Republic not only with the fishing activities... These presence over the last years has been increase through the  EUNAVFOR and Operation Atalanta, of ships paying regular visits to the Port of Victoria and we are very happy," said Mr.  Montensino.

Ambassador Borja Montensino is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Also present during the meeting were the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Transport, Joel Morgan, the President's Diplomatic Adviser, Ambassador Callixte d'Offay and the Spanish Honorary Consul to Seychelles, Captain Edmond Houareau.
