President Danny Faure received members of newly formed association Doctors4Doctors Seychelles (D4DS) at State House this morning.

Launched in April this year, Doctors4Doctors Seychelles is an independent association created by a group of Seychellois doctors with the purpose of advocating for and promoting the interests of doctors in Seychelles, and ultimately improving the quality of care delivered by doctors in Seychelles. The meeting was an opportunity for the members to formally introduce their association to President Faure and discuss some of its key visions and objectives. They also presented President Faure with the first issue of The Pulse magazine, a product of the D4DS association and Seychelles’ first medical magazine.

The President welcomed the members of the association to State House and congratulated them for their initiative, noting that it would not only be a forum for all doctors but also provide a platform where medical professionals can collectively pool their knowledge, stay up-to-date with the international medical community, and achieve continuous learning for the benefit of the country.

"I am proud to see a group of our doctors working together and ready to dedicate their efforts and time to support each other, and focused on finding ways to improve our health care system. You can count on my support as we continue to collectively work together to improve the provision of health services for our people," said President Faure.

Doctors4Doctors Seychelles’ vision is focused on providing support to doctors in their professional development, facilitate specialised training and mentorship programmes, as well as provide doctors with opportunities for networking as a professional community.

Speaking to the press after the meeting, the Chairperson of the Association, Dr Sylvie Pool, said the association is open to all registered doctors in Seychelles from both public and private sectors. On behalf of the association she thanked the President for making the time to meet with them and to hear their views. She said that as a fairly new association, they are now looking forward to further advancing the welfare of doctors in Seychelles and making greater contributions toward improving the health care system in Seychelles. 

The members of the association present at State House this morning included Dr Sylvie Pool, Dr Johanna Rapanarilala, Dr Salma Farook, Dr Teresa Jack, Dr Brigitte Lepathy and Dr Stephanie Mangroo.
