President receives delegation from Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with the States in East Africa of the German Bundestag

The President of the Republic, Mr Danny Faure, received a delegation from Germany led by the Deputy Chairman of Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with the States in East Africa of the German Bundestag and member of the Free Democratic Party, Hon Manfred Todtenhausen, at State House this morning.

President Faure welcomed the delegation to State House and expressed Seychelles’ willingness to further develop the excellent cooperation ties between Seychelles and Germany. He wish them fruitful discussions during their stay in Seychelles.

“It is the first time that we receive parliamentarians from Germany and it is a real honour for me to receive you. I would like thank Germany for the strong collaboration in furthering democracy, stability and peace within the African continent and in particular, the work that you are doing in Eastern Africa,” said President Faure.

The delegation discussed establishing cooperation links and partnerships in sectors such as climate change issues, renewable energy, blue economy, investment and education.

Members of the German Bundestag delegation included the German Ambassador to Seychelles, H.E Ambassador Annett Günter, Armed Forces and Naval Attaché of the Turkish Embassy in Nairobi accredited to the Republic of Seychelles, the Deputy Chairwoman and member of the Left Party, Mrs Sabine Zimmermann and Deputy chairwoman and member of the Alliance 90/The Greens, Mrs Kordula Schulz-Asche and the Honorary Consul of Germany in Seychelles, Mrs Kerstin Henri.

During their official visit to Seychelles, the delegation is expected to participate in various discussions and meetings with their Seychelles counterparts.
