President Faure attends graduation ceremony for 2018-19 graduates

The President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr Danny Faure, was the guest of honour at a gathering to honour and acknowledge the accomplishments of graduates that completed their studies both locally and overseas in 2018 and 2019.  The ceremony was held at the International Conference Centre Seychelles (ICCS) this afternoon.

The graduates have completed courses in various fields including education, medicine, hospitality management and marine biology.

Out of these graduates, 89 undertook their studies locally, 150 overseas and 43 pursued their studies through Distance Learning Education. 231 graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree, 50 with a Master’s Degree and 1 with a Doctorate. 

In her congratulatory speech at the ceremony, the Minister for Education and Human Resource Development, Mrs Jeanne Simeon, congratulated the graduates on their achievements and wished them the best of luck with their future plans. 

She thanked them for reaffirming their commitment to the country’s growth by returning and contributing. The Minister further highlighted the government’s commitment to providing opportunities for higher education, saying, “The Government of Seychelles maintains its commitment to providing the nation with the opportunity to pursue their education to the highest possible level. Seychelles firmly believes that when employees are well trained and educated, the tendency towards innovation and creativity increases, which in turn improves the overall effectiveness and organizational performance, as well strengthens the entrepreneurial activity in the country. Human capacity development is the key to nation building,” said Mrs Simeon.

During the ceremony, there was also a motivational speech by the Principal Scholarship Administrator for the Agency for National Human Resource Development, Mrs Merna Confait.

The ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine, Mr Didier Dogley, members of the diplomatic corps, Chief Executive of the ANHRD, Mrs Nadia Lauricourt, Principal Secretaries and CEOs, Board members of the Agency for National Human Resources Development, and friends and families of graduates.
