President approves new supplementation allowance for all public service employees

Following the decision of the Constitutional Court to dismiss the Executive’s case against the annulment by the National Assembly for the Public Service Salary Table gazetted in April 2019, the President has today approved for all public service employees to benefit from a 5% enhancement in the salaries by way of a supplementation allowance, with retrospective effect from 1st April, 2019.Payments will be made with the December 2019 salaries.

The Public Service Salary Table of 2014 remains unchanged as a new Salary Table has not yet been approved by the National Assembly.

Accordingly, the supplementation allowance will not apply to all Constitutional Appointees and others whose salary is defined by law. These include all persons listed in Schedule 2 of the Public Service Salary Act 2013.

These include the President, the Vice-President, the Designated Minister, the Ministers, the Chief Justice, the President of the Court of Appeal, the Judges and Justices of Appeal, Master of the Supreme Court, the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker, Leader of the Opposition, the Leader of Government Business, the Members of the National Assembly, the Chairman and Members of the Constitutional Appointments Authority, the Chairman and Members of Public Service Appeal Board, the Ombudsman, the Attorney General, the Auditor General, Chairperson and Members of the Electoral Commission.
