President Danny Faure engages in bilateral discussion with H.E. Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica

President Danny Faure engaged H.E. Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica, in bilateral discussions in the margins of the 9th ACP Summit of Heads of State and Government.

President Faure thanked Prime Minister Holness for his support in engaging with the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in pushing for a Vulnerability Resilience Index to better assess the eligibility of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) for Official Development Assistance.

Both countries agreed to share a close engagement during the negotiation for a new ACP-EU partnership agreement, with the aim of promoting the unity of the African, Caribbean, Pacific Group of States and collaborating on SIDS issues at the ACP level.

On his turn, Prime Minister Holness thanked President Faure for initiating the meeting which allowed them to discuss matters of mutual concern. He acknowledged the role Seychelles played in ocean governance and expressed the wish to develop a partnership in this area. He showed interest in learning from Seychelles’ experience in the Debt for Nature Conservation Initiative.

Prime Minister Holness thanked President Faure for Seychelles’ continued support of Jamaica’s candidatures internationally. Both leaders committed to meet more often to continue the renewed collaboration.
