President celebrates the success of initiatives to tackle youth unemployment

President celebrates the success of initiatives to tackle youth unemployment President Danny Faure attended a reception hosted by the Ministry for Employment, Immigration and Civil Status to celebrate the success of the “My First Job Scheme” and “Skills Development Programme” at Eden Blue yesterday evening.  

Together, the two initiatives have assisted over 3000 youths in securing employment within various organisations or provided them with on the job training in various fields. Addressing the young people present at the reception, the President congratulated them for their dedication and commitment to the programme. He urged them to keep working hard and extend a helping hand to those struggling or inspire those who are yet to join the world of work.

“Today we celebrate you and your achievements. Keep up the good work and continue to persevere. We are proud of your success and will continue to support you, as we work to ensure our young people can attain their dreams,” said President Faure.

He also stressed on the importance of the partnership between the Ministry and employers, which plays a major role in ensuring this programme becomes a success.

During the reception, the President also met with and heard the views of the young workers on their experiences with the programme and at work. 

The event was attended by the Minister of Employment, Immigration and Civil Status, Mrs Myriam Telemaque, along with Ministry of Officials and young people who have benefitted from the schemes.
