Law Enforcement Committee to double down on enforcement to uphold the Public Health Regulations

President Danny Faure chaired a follow-up meeting with the Law Enforcement Committee as well as other key command chain stakeholders at State House this morning.

The objective of the meeting was to evaluate the progress of the enforcement of the Public Health Regulations and the 21-day restriction of movement order. Members present provided their assessment of the situation and the procedures and strategies currently in place to guarantee measures are being followed. 

It was agreed that ensuring the public follow the regulations was of utmost priority, given the urgent need to contain the spread of the coronavirus. As a result, more stringent measures will be enforced and new operating procedures implemented to ensure that at this critical stage of the public health emergency, members of the public adhere to the law. 

Firmer action will be taken with anyone disobeying the restricted movement order issued by the Public Health Commissioner. It was also agreed that strict action would be taken against those creating or sharing false information.

All present reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together in a coordinated manner to reinforce the Public Health Regulations, and keep the country and its people safe. 

Present for the meeting at State House this morning was the Chief of Defence Forces, Colonel Clifford Roseline, Commisioner of Police, Mr Kishnan Labonte, Attorney General, Mr Frank Ally, Secretary of State for Health, Ambassador Marie-Pierre Lloyd, Chief of Staff of SPDF, Colonel Michael Rosette, Principal Secretary for Risk and Disaster Management, Mr Paul Labaleine, CEO of the Healthcare Agency, Dr Danny Louange, the Public Health Commissioner, Dr Jude Gedeon, Senior Policy Adviser Department of Health, Dr Conrad Shamlaye, Special Advisor for Health, Dr. Loren Reginal, Assistant Commisioners of Police, Mr Ted Barbe, Mr Romano Songor and Director General of the Seychelles Inteligience Service, Mr Benediste Hoareau.
