Seychelles and Mauritius to further consolidate ties during first State Visit

Port Louis, Mauritius: The President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan, the First Lady, Mrs Linda Ramkalawan and his delegation received a warm welcome upon their arrival in Mauritius by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius, H.E Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and his wife Mrs Kobita Jugnauth, at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport this afternoon. 

During the arrival ceremony the President was welcomed under full military guard of honor including 21 gun salute and was introduced to various senior government officials, key personalities and members of the diplomatic corps. 

After the ceremony the President proceeded to the State House at Le Réduit to call on his counterpart the President of the Republic of Mauritius , H.E Prithvirajsing Roopun G.C.S.K for a tête-à-tête.

Seychelles and Mauritius have traversed decades of close cooperation, friendly exchanges and noteworthy collaboration in various areas of mutual interest. Beyond the scope of official engagements, the two countries also share a strong historic association and ancestral linkages.

Tomorrow morning, President Ramkalawan will engage in a tête-à-tête with the Prime Minister of Mauritius, H.E Mr. Jugnauth followed by working sessions as well as witness the signing of two Memorandum of Understanding. 

During the course of his 3 day State visit in Mauritius, the President will undertake several other discussions and visits set to further boost cooperation between the two island nations.  

Seychelles and Mauritius established diplomatic relations on 17thJuly 1988.
