Cabinet Business - Thursday, 30 May 2019

President Danny Faure chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet on Wednesday 29th May, at which a number of legal and policy memoranda were considered.

Cabinet approved draft regulations under the Control and Protection of Dogs Act, 2018. These regulations will drive the implementation of the Act are in line with Section 55 of the Control and Protection of Dogs Act.

Cabinet also approved new rates for Social Security Benefits.  These arise from the May Day Presidential announcement.  The new rates will come into effect on 1st January 2020.

Cabinet approved for the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding involving training institutions of Seychelles.  The first of these is between the Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA) and the Lycée des Métiers de L’Hôtellerie et de la Restauration, La Renaissance in Reunion.  The second MoU will be between the Seychelles Business Studies Academy and Air Seychelles Ltd.

Cabinet gave its approval to the Seychelles Tourism Master Plan and Tourism Strategy: Destination 2023 which sets a strategy for sustainable tourism growth.

Cabinet endorsed the Coastal Management Plan 2019-2024.  The plan puts in place a set of actions to build greater resilience in prioritized coastal areas of Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue.

Cabinet endorsed the proposed programme for the celebration of 250th anniversary of the first settlement in Seychelles.

Cabinet was briefed on the President’s visit to the Seychelles Tourism Academy the Seychelles Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture.  Follow up actions were discussed and approved.
