A multidisciplinary and multiple award-winning professional with 45 years’ work experience, implementing successful projects and programs in the private, government and civil society sectors in many fields notably fisheries, endangered species rescue, ecological restoration, marine protected areas, eco-tourism, organic agriculture, coastal management, climate change adaptation, waste management, environmental education, impact assessment and more. He has also consulted for multilateral and Intergovernmental agencies including, UN agencies, the World Bank and IUCN.

His recent project collaborations have been with international companies such as Huawei, Canon and CMA CGM. He is recognized as a pioneer of marine sciences, and of integrated coastal zone management in the Western Indian Ocean. He has appeared on numerous occasions in international media programs including CNN, BBC, Sky News, PBS, Canal Plus, DW, CCTV and appearing live on NBC’s The Today Show. He has been quoted extensively in the press such as The Guardian, The Observer, Financial Times, Economic Times  and Reuters.

Dr. Shah is a winner of Seychelles Medal of Honor and lauded by Maritm Africa as one of the 50 personalities influencing the Blue Economy in Africa in 2024 and 2025. In 2024, he was inducted into Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society, one of the world’s oldest and leading multidisciplinary research honor societies, counting more than 100 Nobel Prize winners including Einstein and Linus Pauling as members. He has been a diplomat having served as the Honorary Consul for Mauritius for 15 years. He writes extensively for the public such as on LinkedIn where he is considered a leading voice.
