President Faure officially launches Vision 2033 and National Development Strategy 2019 – 2023

President Danny Faure attended the official launching ceremony of Vision 2033 and the National Development Strategy 2019 – 2023 at the International Conference Centre this morning.

Vision 2033 is: ‘A resilient, responsible and prosperous nation of healthy, educated and empowered Seychellois living together in harmony with nature and engaged with the wider world.’

In October 2017 the Department of Economic Planning embarked on a consultation process and visioning exercise with a wide range of stakeholders from different sections of society, to draft a long-term vision and National Development Strategy 2019-2023 for the country.

In his keynote address to formally launch the two strategic documents, President Faure said, “Seychelles’ Vision 2033 and its accompanying National Development Strategy together present a clear view of where we are, where we want to go, and over what time frame. It is a vision that will take Seychelles into the future and that will guide us to fulfil our ambition to improve the quality of life of our people. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one who has participated and contributed to this exercise. I am grateful for your input, and happy that so many people share a passion for the progress of our country.”

In closing he said, “I trust that these documents inspire each one of us. After all, it is our collective responsibility to ensure that Vision 2033 becomes a reality. Each one of us has a role to play in ensuring this vision guides our future development.”

The ceremony also featured a video highlighting where Seychelles aspires to be in 2033 and another highlighting the roadmap for the next 5 years as set out in the National Development Strategy.

There was also the unveiling of the Vision 2033 logo, under the theme “Vision 2033: Towards a sustainable and inclusive future”.

Also present for the official opening was the Designated Minister, Mrs Macsuzy Mondon, Ministers, Honourable Members of the National Assembly, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, and invited guests.
